The Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust has been established to not only separate the administration of the endowment fund from the Centre but also to raise funds to build the fund to the required seven hundred endowments. The Trust will then invest the funds and remit the income to Starehe for the care and education of boys. In this we way, we can secure the future of Starehe and ensure that every year Starehe can admit yet another one hundred and forty boys without a care how their sojourn at the Centre will be funded.
H.E. the Hon. Mwai Kibaki had very kindly agreed to launch the Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust at a function to be held at State House Nairobi on 19th June 2009.
Ours is to ensure that according to our means, we do all that we can to ensure that others enjoy the same advantage we did while at Starehe. Our aim is to arrive at the launch with about KES 50 million from the Old Boys. To this end, we are asking you to make your contribution towards the launch by paying your money at the OSS Secretariat or depositing the money to our account at Barclays Bank, Haile Selasie Avenue Branch A/c Name: Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust A/c Number: 082 - 1488133. We are currently in the process of setting up an M-PESA account for ease of contributions. We will also explore the possibilities of a ZAP account.
Your contribution towards the launch and thereafter will be recorded in your individual account at the Trust. You will also get a certificate of recognition. Those who contribute KES 300,000/- and above will present their cheques to the President in person during the launch. Those who contribute but cannot raise the KES 300, 000/- will present their contributions to Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, at a pre-launch cocktail party to be held at the Laico Regency on the evening of 12th June 2009. Nonetheless, they will receive an invitation to the State House function.
Those who contribute at least quarter an endowment, KES 150,000/- and above will receive plaques while all other contributors will receive Certificates. These certificates will recognize the contributors as Founder contributors during the launch of the Griffin Memorial Trust Fund. The Categories are as follows:
Gold level: A contribution of KES 100,000/-.
Silver level: A contribution of KES 70,000/-
Bronze level: A contribution of KES 30,000/-
